CELEBRATING NAIDOC
Basketball WA celebrated NAIDOC
in 2022 with a basketball carnival on Monday 4 and Tuesday 5 July. The event aligned with the NAIDOC message of “GET UP! STAND UP! SHOW UP!”
A special mention to Shaneen Winmar and the talented Bigurrdar Noongar Dance Group who performed Welcome to Country and traditional dance to open the Carnival.
The carnival supported multiple age divisions starting with U12’s and finishing with U20’s. Round Robin games were played across both days, with finals held on the second day.
On the second day, there was also a 3pt shoot out as well as a very successful Dunk contest.
The event was well received by the communities and also saw the inclusion of extra activities, with activations in the foyer.
A special thank you to the Team Coordinators for their efforts in bringing their teams together on this annual celebration, along with everyone involved in organising the event.
