Tony Amoroso Association Development Manager RENEWED FOCUS ON GOOD GOVERNANCE
  NEW TEAM
In 2022 the Association Development team welcomed new staff members into the team with Zanè Bricite taking a well-deserved break. Courtney Barlow hit the ground running with Country Affiliated Associations going through the reaffiliation process as well as taking on the further development of the BWA Volunteer Recognition Program.
The Association Development team also welcomed Lauren Gandini into the role of Integrity and Member Protection Support Officer. Lauren provided invaluable input into the development of the Tribunal By- law information pack which included FAQ’s, interpretation of sentencing guidelines and an information workshop on the Tribunal By-laws.
As well as the new arrival of Courtney and Lauren the Association Development team also welcomed a new Association Development Manager, Tony Amoroso.
With the new look team, there was an immediate interest in assisting associations with support to ensure good governance was at the forefront of every association as well as providing assistance in those difficult situations.
As it has been for many years now the members of the Association Development Team has delivered support to associations on the process
and requirements across the State in conducting Annual General Meetings as wellasSpecialGeneralMeetings.Aswell as providing guidance on the procedure of conducting these meetings the team is also well equipped to assist Affiliated Associations with the development/ amendments of associations Constitution as well as Policies and By-Laws.
Throughout the year the team have added to the comprehensive resources list on the BWA website. Within the suite of resources are templates such as profit and loss spreadsheet, working with children card holder register and many more useful tools for associations to use.
ACHIEVEMENTS OF VOLUNTEERS
In line with BWAs Strategic Plan, a strong focus is being placed on supporting Associations highlight the achievements of volunteers as well as provide support and initiatives in retaining and engaging volunteers. We were able to launch a Volunteer Hub on our website which provides valuable resources for associations to use to assist in providing job description forms, roles and responsibilities as well as nomination forms to assist in the recognition of the valuable efforts of their volunteers.
NATIONAL INTEGRITY FRAMEWORK
In early 2023 we will adopt the updated Basketball Australia National Integrity Framework. The National Integrity Framework is the umbrella term for the suite of policies, educational materials and other resources that establish basketball’s perimeter against corruption. The Framework applies to all competitions and events conducted under the auspices of Basketball Australia.
The Framework sets the broad expectations for the conduct of all Participants, but also incorporates detailed policies to regulate behaviour and ensure action can be taken against those who fail to adhere to behavioural standards and expose the sport to undue risk.
