HIGH QUALITY WHEELCHAIR BASKETBALL FOR 2022
HIGH PERFORMANCE PATHWAY
It was nice to see some high-quality basketball being played in 2022. After a couple of frustrating years with COVID interrupting the world, wheelchair basketball hit back with Basketball WA and the Perth Wheelcats competing in the National League, several WA athletes representing Australia at the Australian Oceania Zone Qualifiers and finally the Black Ducks winning the Kevin Coombs Cup at the Australian Junior Championships making that an aback to back win for our junior team.
DEV. SESSIONS – TUESDAY NIGHTS
Tuesday nights at BHF Stadium in Mt Claremont at 6.00pm we have been training the next generation. The group works on chair skills, fundamentals and basic philosophy looking to enjoy themselves and improve. Thanks to the following for turning up, working hard, and having some fun.
Ebony, Joel, Jordan, Mike, Lauren, Tyson, Oliver, Simon, Rob, Sara.
BWA - WAIS HP PROGRAM
Basketball WA and WAIS continue to work together closely to provide a world-class high- performance program. This program continues to provide the most players to the Australian junior and senior programs in both men and women,
In 2022 the AOZ qualifiers were held in Thailand with both the men and women winning Gold allowing them to both secure a spot at the World Cup which was due to be held later in 2022 but was then delayed to 2023.
