EVERYONE'S GAME
CARNIVAL
Basketball WA run the Everyone’s Game carnivals with the goal of promoting that basketball is for everyone. These carnivals raise awareness of International Day of People with Disability, with help from our partners the DLGSC and Belt Up Australia. With one carnival cancelled due to covid, their support helped us run two all-abilities basketball carnivals in 2022, providing opportunities for athletes with intellectual disabilities to play basketball in a fun, social, and supportive environment.
All-abilities programs from all over the metro area consistently participate and offer additional support to these carnivals, including Special Olympics Australia, West Rise Basketball, Newman Raiders, and other inclusive basketball programs that operate within our associations, such as those at Rockingham Flames and Perth Redbacks.
SEDA
SEDA’s Year 11 and 12 basketball program continues to grow, with this year’s partnership with BWA seeing 59 students completing their Level 0 coaching course.
These students then put these skills into practise and delivered clinics to the primary schools of Perth, working with over 9,000 participants across the year. On top of this, these students also assisted BWA in the officiation of the School Slam Series.
