  3x3
3X3 Basketball is quickly proving to be WA’s favourite alternative to standard 5 on 5 play. Despite being relatively new to the scene, the super charged format of basketball is exciting, fast paced, and designed to be played anywhere, any time. This versatility has lead to basketball clubs all over the state introducing it to their basketball communities, solving problems such that come with limited court space or smaller populations.
3x3 STREETBALL
CHAMPIONSHIPS
at GROUNDSWELL
FESTIVAL
A signature event on the 3x3 calendar, the Streetball Championships at Groundswell Youth Festival were held at Scarborough Beach in the October school holidays alongside other exciting urban street sports such as surfing, skating, and BMX. Now in its ninth year, the 3-day festival promotes a healthy, active lifestyle for youth, providing a platform for us to showcase 3x3 streetball at the beach with live music, DJs, street art, food trucks, and a fusion of other activities to attract and engage with young people.
With plenty of players returning from last year’s tournament, this year saw 16 male and 15 female teams, with an increased interest in the U21s division compared to previous years.
This exciting and high standard event could not be delivered without the backing of the City of Stirling and our event partners, Kinn & Co, along with the support from our fellow sporting partners and the local community. The Groundswell Festival allows us to promote 3x3 to a wider audience, and we look forward to bringing streetball back to Scarborough beach once again in 2023.
