COMPETITIONS
In 2019 Basketball WA continued the administration rostering of referees for all Country Championships and Under 17’s/Under 19’s Weekend of State Championships. Rostering officials allows for adequate, consistent coaching across championships
to which provides officials with development and growth to allow for continuous improvement with their performance.
In conjunction with the WABL Referee Development Program, Basketball WA rostered together participants on WABL Rounds to which allowed for exposure to high performance referee coaches and video reviews.
We also continued to roster Referee Coaches for WABL Rounds which allows for adequate coverage and consistent feedback to referees officiating which assisted in higher performances throughout the season through to Grand Finals.
With identification at Country Championships we were able to provide coverage for
Division 1 games in Regional locations Kalgoorlie, Geraldton and South West. This also allows for participants in Regional Referee Programs with incentives whilst participating in their relevant programs.
COURSE NUMBERS
Continuing in 2019 was the structure and framework to allow associations in metropolitan and regional areas to conduct referee courses. Basketball WA along with the approved presenters were able to conduct various and numerous courses at the association level. We will look to continue to improve the material and method around the education module process.
