COURSE OBJECTIVES
Upon Supon Successful completion of the program, students

will be able to: Perform basic chair side assisting tech-
niques, understand and perform aseptic techniques and
management of hazardous materials, identify and utilize
instruments, materials and equipment, expose and
process dental radiographs, identify and apply the
concepts of dental ethics in relationships to the patient,
deentist, and other auxiliaries of the dental team.

COURSE TOPICS AND DATES
WEEK 1: Anesthesia and Dental Sealants
Sections 1-2 (2 Hrs Lecture, 6 Hrs Lab) Students will
learn about:
-Dental anesthesia, such as placing topical and
dental injections.
-How to pour up and trim model impressions
-Placement of dental sealants
WEEK 2: Dental Instruments
Sections 3-4 (2 Hrs Lecture, 6 Hrs lab) Student will
learn about:
-Dental instruments and how to use them
-Dental radiology (taking, developing and
mounting x-rays)
-Review sections 1-3 and test
WEEK 3: Welcoming the patient and maintaining
a dry dental eld
Sections 5-6 (2 Hrs Lecture, 6 Hrs lab)
Students will learn about:
-Operations of the office such as reviewing a
patient's health history and required pre-medi
cations
-Placement and function of dental dams and
tofflemire matrix bands
WEEK 4:Bleaching Trays
Sections 7-8 (2 Hrs Lecture, 6 Hrs lab) Students will
learn about:
-Take home bleaching trays and will be able to
make trays for themselves
-Review sections 5-7 and test
