Have you ever driven by a worn out, shabby property and thought “that looks pretty run down, I wonder if I could make it nice again?” I do this often, sometimes to a fault. Over the years, I have bought and flipped a good amount of properties in the Boston area. That came with big financial risks and a lot of back-breaking work, and it was always hard to part with a labor of love, so I decided to focus on vacation rental prop- erty that I could hold onto and rent instead. And what better a way to share the beauty of the area!
In the spring of 2020, a friend of mine and I bought a dilapidated 1959 trailer on a lot across the street from a little lake in Gilmanton. It had been there since 1959, and not much had

been done to keep it up. The well didn’t work, and the septic system turned out to be unus- able. But we got a loan, rolled up our sleeves and got to work.
What a fun project that was! We spent the entire summer roughing it (no well, no septic),
and rehabbing the place our- selves on the weekends. We were not sure how such a unique property would be received as a vacation rental. Not only was it a hit, but it is now a traveler favorite.
