Aside from his basketball achievements, Herbert plans to finish high school and pursue a career in the automobile indus- try, while continuing his passion for car racing. His passion for automobiles even earned him a feature on WMUR last fall.
When asked to describe his overall coaching experience with Caiden, Coach McCand- less said this, “Caiden is a great guy that I have enjoyed coach- ing for three years. I will miss him, but I am sure he will find good things to do and continue to have fun in the future.” Her- bert’s presence on the team
extended well beyond his perfor- mance, reflecting his leadership, communication, and ability to keep teammates motivated. Caiden spent his time creating a positive atmosphere on the team through his defensive awareness and his sense of humor, high- lighting that keeping a balance is what a strong team needs to achieve greatness. As Caiden prepares to say goodbye to a high school who will miss him immensely, he will leave behind a positive legacy of teamwork and energy that will continue to impact the basketball team for years to come.
Newfound Regional High School has never been short of exceptional student-athletes, and we can all agree they de- serve some recognition for their outstanding work on and off the court. Senior Caiden Herbert has shown the NRHS commu- nity what keeping a positive at- titude can do when the pressure is on.
Head Varsity Boys’ Basket- ball Coach Kurt McCandless said that Caiden has always been influential with his peers and has a great sense of humor. A three-year varsity basketball player, Caiden has always been a steady contributor and vocal leader on the court. Averaging about 8.2 points and five re- bounds per game, his impact on the team is notable. Coach Mc- Candless praised Herbert for his excellent communication and awareness with his teammates. “On defense, he is the leader and communicator of what is going on. He is always in the right position.” Herbert hopes to lead his team to the playoffs and finish this season strong.
Caiden is also known for his unselfish mindset. “As a backup center during his junior year, he consistently pushed the starter in practice, offering encourage- ment and support while maxi- mizing his own opportunities,” McCandless said. An athlete is more than who they are on

the court, and their presence in other settings also makes an impact on the school. Off the court, Herbert’s sense of humor and energy make him a positive influence on teammates and peers, keeping the atmosphere
light. McCandless also noted that Herbert’s humor keeps those around him relaxed and makes him the kind of person “someone others want to be around,” who can ease pressure in tense moments.
