High School Math Team wrapped up its regular season in impressive fashion this week, competing in its final meet at Lin-Wood. Bringing a team of eight dedicated students, New- found delivered one of its stron- gest performances of the season.
Leading the way was Ceili Ir- ving, who earned a team-high 14 points. Close behind was Kavan Zick with 12 points. A trio of consistent scorers—Leo Connell, Leah McFarland, and Caiden Webber—each contributed 10 points, providing the depth and balance that proved crucial to the team’s overall success.
When the final scores were tallied, Newfound finished with
ing 1st place in our division. The result reflects not only individual achievement but also the team’s steady preparation, collabora- tion, and commitment through- out the season.
With the regular season now complete, the team’s focus shifts to the next challenge. In March, Newfound will compete at the state level at NHTI – Concord’s Community College, where they will test their skills against top math teams from across New Hampshire.
Congratulations to all eight team members on a fantastic meet and a strong finish to the regular season. Best of luck as they prepare for states!

In addi- tion, half-price Trout Unlimited memberships will be available at the meeting. Trout Unlim- ited is a national organization with local chapters, promoting cold-water sport fishing and stream preservation efforts.
The speaker at this meeting will be Thomas Ames Jr. Tom has published several best-sell- ing books about fly fishing, fly

Tom’s books include the Hatch Guide for New En- gland Streams, Fishbugs: The Aquatic Insects of an Eastern Angler, and, most recently, the Pocketguide to Eastern Hatches, which was released this fall. Tom is also an elemen- tary school teacher with a mas- ter's degree in education. At our meeting, he plans to chronicle the developments in fly fishing over the past 25 years, the time between the publication of the original Hatch Guide (2000) and the revised version of the Pock- etguide (2025), with an emphasis on ideas about how to adapt to changing conditions.
