This story has been brought to print by Chris’s widow, Jennifer Mor- ris, and Chris’s brother and travel companion, Brendan Buckley. Composed using travel journals Chris made on two separate trips to the Torngats, twenty years apart, the book is a vital addition to the canon of expedition litera- ture about Labrador. Join us for a live book talk with Chris’s widow, Jen Morris, and by Zoom, Chris’s brother and hiking companion, Brendan Buckley. This program is free and open to the public. They will have books available for purchase that evening.

Why Democracy? A NH Humanities-to-Go Program, Wednesday, March 25th at 5:30 PM at Old Webster Court- house. A NH Humanities-to-go Program presented by Joshua Duclos, co-sponsored with the Plymouth Historical Society. De- mocracy is taken to be an obvi- ous good. It often seems like the one thing we can agree on in a political debate. After all, only dictators and fools question the value of democracy...right? And yet, the value of democracy has been challenged again and again throughout history. Great philos- ophers from Plato to Confucius thought it was a terrible idea, and many contemporary West- ern political theorists have spec- ulated that democracy may not be as useful or moral as we sup- pose. For those who believe in the value of democracy (its efficacy and its morality), it is important to analyze, articulate, and explore the arguments in which democ-
racy is grounded. This talk will do three things: (1) explain what democracy is; (2) explain why serious historical and contempo- rary thinkers have distrusted de- mocracy; and (3) explore the best contemporary arguments in favor of democracy.
