15th Annual Run Your Buns Off 4.2-mile Race in Bristol Set for Labor Day Weekend
Get those running/walking shoes ready because it’s time to Run Your Buns Off again! That’s right, on Saturday, August 31, the race committee hopes to see the Newfound community turnout once again for what has become a Labor Day tradition for residents and vacationers alike.
Now in its 15th year, runners and walkers will leave from Basic Ingredients Bakery located on Rt. 3A in Bristol to “run their buns off” for a 4.2 mile professionally timed run/walk. The reward for their hard work- a delicious home- made sticky bun waiting at the fin- ish line for all participants!
Hosted by the Newfound Area Charitable Fund, the Run Your Buns Off race committee is happy to announce that again this year, they have voted to partner with the NH Food Bank as their race ben- eficiary. Through their donation, the NH Food Bank will in turn host a mid-winter mobile food pantry in Bristol, delivering food for over 250 local families. Last February’s event was a tremen- dous success, and the Newfound Area Charitable Fund cannot wait
to assist those in need again with this year’s race proceeds.
“This year we are honored and excited to be collaborating with the NH Food Bank for our fifth year by hostinga mobile food pan- try in February to help provide an abundance of food to those who may be dealing with hardships,” says Garlyn Manganiello, NACF Vice-President and co-founder of the race.
In addition to hosting the mo- bile food pantry, the NACF voted at its April board meeting this year to award an unsolicited $8,500 to five other local non-profit beneficiaries. They included the Tapply-Thompson Community
Center, Mid-State Health Center, Voices Against Violence, the Bris- tol Fire Company, and the Hidden Battles
Foundation. Those donations were also made possible by money raised through the annual Run Your Buns Off event.
Audrey Goudie, NACF Pres- ident and co-founder of the race stated, “Having the financial means to assist other incredible organizations and their programs brings us such joy. Every year that we grow, we give back more and it’s a beautiful thing.”
Goudie continued, “We invite you all to help us celebrate our 15th anniversary of Run our Buns
Off! The fun all started back in 2009 and we have proudly given back $117,000 to worthy causes and programs in our community. It is truly amazing when we sit back and realize that this fun lit- tle hometown event is entering its 15th year and we continue to make a positive impact in our community.”
The NACF Board was estab- lished for the purpose of assisting local charitable groups and causes that promote wellness, fitness, and health education, as well as ac- tivities in the Newfound Region. Individual runners, walkers and teams of all ages are encouraged to participate. The top three male
and female runners, along with the fastest team, are awarded prizes.
Run Your Buns Off and the race committee will hold another large prize raffle this year, and par- ticipants should note that pre-reg- istration for the event is required. All participants will receive race swag upon completion of the 4.2- mile course, along with a Basic In- gredients sticky bun.
The Newfound Area Charita- ble Fund hopes people of all ages will consider joining them for this fun and worthy cause over Labor Day weekend. Registrations can be made online at www.runyour- bunsoffnh.com.
