Wear Blaze Orange When Heading Afield
Danbury Volunteer Community Fire Dept to Host Supper
CONCORD – Hunters and all other outdoor enthusiasts are encouraged to put on bright or- ange clothing when they head afield this fall. Wearing a fluores- cent orange hat, vest, or jacket makes you highly visible, one of several key safety precautions for hunters, hikers, and others en- joying the autumn woods. Sev- eral hunting seasons are already underway in New Hampshire (see http://www.huntnh.com/ hunting/hunt-dates.html).
“Wearing blaze orange has statistically been shown to de- crease hunting incidents across
the country,” said Josh Mackay, who coordinates the Hunter Education Program at the New Hampshire Fish and Game De- partment.
It’s recommended that all out- door enthusiasts and their pets heading into the woods this fall think safety by wearing blaze or- ange, sticking to established trails when hiking, and reviewing the safe hiking guidelines at hikesafe. com.
For more information on dates and details of New Hampshire’s hunting seasons, visit www. huntnh.com/hunting.
DANBURY - The Danbury Volunteer Fire Department has hosted their Annual Fire- men’s Supper each year since the 1950s on Columbus Day weekend, this year the Sup- per will take place on October 8th. The Department serves a full turkey dinner with all of the fixings and dessert. If you are interested in ordering a meal and supporting the Fire Department, please email us at dfdsupper@gmail.com or call 603-768-3652 and leave your name, phone number and how many adult or children’s meals you would like to order. The cost is $12 for adults and $5 for chil- dren under twelve. This will be a “take-out only” event again this year with dinners being distrib- uted between 4:30 and 7:00 p.m. This event would not be possible without the loyal support of the local community.
Members also sell raffle tick-
ets for a chance to win one of about 25 prizes, and the top prize every year is a rifle. Other prizes
include a ski pass to Ragged Mountain Ski Resort, fuel oil from Dead River Company, a bow package from Smith River Trading Post; a muz- zleloader from Gungewam Outfitters; cash, and several gift certificates from local businesses. Raffle prizes will be drawn later that evening.
Proceeds from the Supper and Raffle will go toward pur- chasing equipment for the Fire Department. Thank you for your
continued support.
