munity, and the NH Marathon is yet, another event that shows off the nature of the strong bond that is Newfound.
The NH Marathon is an all-day event, and MacLean in- formed me that volunteers could bethereasearlyas6AMto prepare everything for the big day! The Assistant Director also stated that the NH Marathon is always looking for volunteers to help out with the event each year, so if anyone is interested in being a part of the historic NH Mar- athon, they can check out their website! And just like volunteers, the NH Marathon is also always looking for sponsors.

whole day is really upbeat,” said MacLean. “People are happy that they achieved a big goal. There are many great people involved, from volunteers, run- ners, and spectators.” Dan also informed me that his father, Fred MacLean, was on the commit- tee that got the Nh Marathon started back in 1993. Talk about a full-circle moment! This event has been happening for 29 years, and that’s nothing to cast aside. For 29 years, people have been coming from all over to par- ticipate in these eventful races, achieve goals, and give back to the community.

I think people really enjoy it and are happy that this whole event gives back to the youth.” And there’s no doubt that people enjoy the Newfound area. “Everyone in- volved really enjoys our area,” MacLean stated. “People come from all over to run these races like people from different states and even international runners.” It’s heartwarming to see such an eventful race go on in the New- found area with so many people involved. “Bringing in all of these people to our area to show how awesome Newfound is has been one of the best things about the marathon,” MacLean continued. their sponsorship!
First held in 1993 as a single
race event, the NH Marathon has been New Hampshire’s best kept secret for 29 years! This year the NH Marathon is being run on October 1, 2022. The mission of the NH Marathon is to pro- mote a world class running event and to support area child-cen- tered organizations.
Over the years, donors’ fees, race entry fees, and funds from related events have contributed over $290,000 to three local or-
ganizations: the Tapply-Thomp- son Community Center, Circle Program, and The Mayhew Program. These groups provide important support to area youth through year-round programs
touching and enriching the lives of over 500 children a year. This would not be possible without the support of
community partners and busi- nesses.
