DANBURY – Thanks to a lot of teamwork that included many hours of dedication aimed at get- ting snow on the trails and skiers and snowboarders heading uphill on the lifts, Ragged Mountain Re- sort kicked off the 2022-23 season on the weekend of Dec. 9 and it wasn’t long before Mother Nature kicked in to do her part as well with a big snow storm the follow- ing weekend.
Under the ownership of Pa- cific Group Resorts, Inc. of Park City, Utah, Ragged Mountain ap- preciates all the natural snow they can get, but they also have the capability for 87 percent of their trails to be covered by snowmak- ing whenever necessary. So when temperatures and conditions are right, winter enthusiasts can rest assured that snow is falling on Ragged Mountain’s 50-plus trails.
“Kudos to our snowmaking and mountain operations teams for all their efforts to get you out enjoying some turns on the snow,” the resort reported in their daily Mountain Message Blog on open- ing weekend.
While not the largest ski area in New Hampshire, Ragged Mountain has just as much, if not more, to offer. Besides their highly skilled groomers and top to bot- tom, 87-percent snowmaking capabilities, the resort comprises two mountain peaks offering fun

An- other option for nearby lodging is New Hampshire Mountain Inn, located just three miles away on New Canada Road, for families, groups, or couples who want to enjoy all their fabulous après-ski amenities, including a heated in- door pool.
Most of all, Ragged Mountain Resort is a highly affordable and enjoyable place for people of all skiing and snowboarding capabil- ities or those who just want to stop
in to eat and relax on the slope side. Throughout the 2022-23 season, the resort will also host a number of competitive races and other social events, which are not only fun to take part in but to sit back and observe as well.
Day-trippers or those planning ahead for a future visit to Ragged Mountain can go online to their Website, where they will find a wealth of information, including weather updates, a daily Moun- tain Blog, and even a live camera from the resort. In addition, ticket purchases, season passes, and equipment rentals can be made from the site, as well as reserva- tions for cabin rentals as they are available. and challenges for skiers and snowboarders of all skill levels. Among the 50 trails they offer are also The Glades and a terrain park for the more experienced, as well as three mountain lifts, in- cluding a triple chair, a quad, and their popular Summit Six Express to get skiers and snowboarders alike to where they want to go.
Beginners will find lessons and rentals available right beside the carpet lift that transports them up a gentle slope where they can practice their skills. Then, once they feel confident in what they have learned, they can head up on a nearby chairlift to experi- ence the thrill of skiing one of Ragged’s beginner trails from
the summit. On the lower slopes where trails converge, there are also “slow zones” to warn other skiers to beware of those new to the sport as they make their way toward the lodge or a lift for an- other run down the mountain.
Besides the learning center, trails, wooded glades, and terrain parks, Ragged Mountain Resort also has many amenities for skiers and the general public as well. In- side the Elmwood Lodge, people will encounter classic post-and- beam architecture. Windows on the first level overlook the base of the mountain, where everyone can enjoy lunch and a warm-up beverage from the food services available. Upstairs they will find
