New Hampshire from domestic and sexual violence and abuse, stalking, bullying, and more.
Last Saturday, Raymah stated that she had no immediate plans for what she would do next, but did say she had already received a very special retirement gift - her 22-year-old grandson had re- cently planned a trip to Scotland and chose to take her along with him, rather than a friend.
“I really have no other plans other than to enjoy the summer,” she said. “I haven’t had a whole summer off in a long time!”
In a post on social media last week, Raymah delivered a final thank you to everyone in Bristol.
“As I leave to embark on a journey of retirement, I could not leave without thanking all of you for making my job a plea- sure. It has been a privilege to serve you for the past 30 years. I am aware that not many people can state that they truly love the work they do and the job they are in, but I
was one of those fortunate enough to do so, and you all made it possible. In the future, as I reflect on my years spent as your Town Clerk/Tax Collector, I will cherish the memories we have shared, for you were not only my customers, but you were also my friends,” she wrote.
Stepping in to fill her big shoes now is the town’s new TC/TC, Cheryl Herbert. Many are al- ready familiar with Cheryl, who has served as the Deputy TC/TC for the past three years. Assisting her now will be the new Deputy TC/TC, Carrie Nyberg. As the daughter of Raymah Simpson, Carrie is relatively new to the po- sition, but with Cheryl and her mom on her side, she knows she will have a great amount of sup- port as she settles into the role.
“Dorothy ‘Dottie’ Luce has also joined the team as an Assis- tant in January and is still learn- ing. Please welcome them,” said Raymah.
Bristol Town Clerk/Tax Collector Retires
Community
BRISTOL – After 30 years of service to the Town of Bris- tol, Town Clerk/Tax Collector Raymah Simpson retired on May 30th. Last Saturday, friends, family, and residents came out to wish her well as she heads into the next phase of her life.
Raymah will be missed by all who have ever had contact with her at the town offices. She registered their cars, handed out beach and transfer station stickers, and, yes, collected their money for tax bills, dog regis- trations, and even helped them register to vote. She was also on hand at each election to be sure it ran smoothly, then stayed long after the polls closed to tally the votes and announce the results.
That was just the tip of the proverbial iceberg, however. Whenever anyone had a question or an issue that needed to be re- solved, it was Raymah Simpson who would find the solution. And when her office was closed, it was typically because she was at one of many training sessions that keep Tc/TCs up to date on new rules, laws, and procedures.
She wasn’t just Bristol’s Town Clerk/Tax Collector. Over the years, she was chosen to serve a term as president of the New Hampshire City and Town Clerks Association and yet an- other year-long term as president of the New Hampshire Tax Col- lectors Association.
Raymah could also be found in attendance at many commu- nity events. A few years ago, she even won the Voices Against
