NH LAKES Welcomes a New Member to the Board of Directors
NH LAKES recently wel- comed Terry Mattson to their board of directors.
Terry grew up in Deering, New Hampshire, and spent 30 years in Austin, Texas, where she built a successful career as an executive in the medical device and biopharmaceutical space. Terry holds a bachelor’s degree in Marketing from Texas A&M University-Central Texas and an MBA from St. Edward’s Uni- versity in Austin, Texas. After a successful career, Terry retired early with a goal of joining or- ganizations that focus on protect- ing New Hampshire waterbodies so that future generations could be fortunate to experience what she did growing up. She felt NH LAKES was the obvious choice and is excited to join the talented staff and board to accomplish the organization’s goals.
When asked why joining the board of NH LAKES was im- portant to her, Terry responded, “Looking back, I had an idyllic childhood with access to many waterbodies that made summers the ultimate memory. I’d be hon- ored to help future generations experience what I did as a child. When I was growing up, clean water was a given; however, now it isn’t and we need to protect what we have.”
Terry and her husband moved to New Hampshire in 2021 and now live full-time at their home
on Crescent Lake in Acworth. Their two adult children love the lake and spend as much time there as possible. Terry is a con- tributing member of the Cres- cent Lake Association’s Water Quality Group and a founding Director of the CLEAR Trust. She was instrumental in raising awareness regarding the need for a watershed plan for Crescent Lake, which is now in progress.
“We are thrilled to welcome Terry to the NH LAKES Board. She brings invaluable expertise, energy, and passion to our mis- sion of protecting and restoring New Hampshire’s lakes,” com- mented Jim Dexter, NH LAKES Board Chair.

A Day at Gunstock:
NRHS Students Learn About Hospitality Careers
Twelve NRHS students trav- eled to Gunstock to learn about career options and pathways in the hospitality field. They toured the restaurant and group spaces, as well as ticketing and lift oper- ations. Then, they rode to the summit on the Panorama lift and visited with the ski patrol. Thank you, Gunstock!
From Gunstock, the students looped back to Meredith to Hart's Turkey Farm, where they
were treated to tours of the pub- lic spaces and behind the scenes. There were special demonstra- tions of cooking and baking—stu- dents even finished up the process of baking some bread and cookies! Then Hart's generously treated the group to a full turkey dinner with a freshly carved turkey straight from the oven and warm cookies!
When asked why she was at- tending a hospitality trip (because she has school plans committed to
the beauty field), a Senior on the trip answered, "Hospitality has to do with almost every career. Es- pecially in my chosen career, you have to entertain customers and keep clients coming back. You also have to be able to market yourself and your business."
