FRIENDS OF THE MINOT- SLEEPER LIBRARY OPEN HOUSE
We would like to invite you to an Open House on Saturday, April 11th, from 10:30 am to 12:30 pm. This is a wonderful opportunity to learn more about the Friends’ activities, enjoy delicious baked treats, and enter for a chance to win a library tote bag full of goodies. SLIM BAKER HOSTS EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMS From 6 to 7 p.m., the foundation will present a Fireside Chat focused on upland invasive plant species in New Hampshire. The program will be led by Doug Cygan, an Invasive Species Coordinator with the New Hampshire Department of Agriculture.
The event will take place at the Slim Baker Foundation, located at 301 New Chester Mountain Road in Bris- tol. Admission is free and open to the public, though registration is required due to limited seating.

The walk is free and open to all ages, though partici- pants should be prepared to hike up to 1.5 miles and are encouraged to wear appropriate footwear and attire. Attendees will meet at the founda- tion’s Bristol kiosk.

Plankton are microscopic organisms that form the foundation of lake food webs and play a critical role in wa- ter quality and ecosystem health. By studying them, scientists gain import- ant insight into how lakes are chang- ing over time.
Join us for an engaging presentation and discussion on how plankton are monitored in New Hampshire lakes, what they reveal about lake health, and what we’re learning from lakes impacted by spiny water flea. We’ll also explore what this could mean for Newfound, and the steps lake users and communities can take to help prevent its spread.
This is a chance to look beneath the surface, ask questions, and better understand how small changes can have big consequences for New Hampshire’s lakes.
