BRISTOL – More than 300 people registered for the annual Run Your Buns Off 4.2-Miler fundraiser on Aug. 30, with Max Nordhausen leading the way for the men with a time of 25.19, while Kara Scleparis was the first for the women with her time of 27.17, which also placed her fifth overall.
As the runners and walkers prepared to head out along the course on Labor Day Weekend, Audrey Goudie of the New- found Charitable Foundation took a moment to thank every- one for their support over the past 16 years. Whether they were runners, walkers, pur- chased raffle tickets or are sim- ply people who register as a way to donate to the nonprofit orga- nization, they have all made a difference to the community, she told the crowd.
“In our 16 years, we have proudly distributed over $117,000 back to our commu- nity,” said Goudie. “This past year, along with the help of the New Hampshire Food Bank mo- bile pantry, we delivered 7,600 meals to 623 people in 240 local households.”
That wasn’t all, however. The Newfound Charitable Founda- tion also donated an additional $8,000 to the Circle Program, Mayhew Program, Pasquanny
Garden Club, and the Hidden Battles Foundation, assisting members of the military, police, fire, and dispatchers with strug- gles they may face through their service.
This year the major recipi- ent of the funds raised will once again be the N.H. Food Bank, which will return to the New- found Area to assist residents once again this winter.
Once participants crossed the finish line on, water, chocolate milk, and special edition “Ollie Pops,” along with Basic Ingredi- ents’ delicious sticky buns, were
waiting for them all.
A total of 288 runners and
walkers completed the course this year. Following Nordhausen for a Top 10 finish in the men’s division were Colton Piper, Ryan Twomey, Andrew Cole- man, Mark Pennisi, Jonathan Traub, Scott Wilkas, Ben Safran, Steven Nelson and Tucker Tib- betts. For the women, the top 10 were Scleparis, Katherine Dor- villiers, Emily Rivinius, Zoe Ka- plan, Jane Mellors Lebel, Julia Meehan, Rebecca Thompson, Kaitlyn York, Charlotte Kae- mpfer and Jennifer Lightowler.
