October 2025 NEWFOUNDLAKELIFE.COM Page 7 Marathons, Music and More – October Events at the TTCC
On October 4th at 9 am, with the turning leaves and crisp morning air, there will be a rush of runners circling Newfound Lake as part of the 32nd annual NH Marathon, an event that helps support three area non- profits -the Tapply-Thompson Community Center (TTCC), The Mayhew Program, and Circle Program. A week later, on October 11th, the commu- nity center will be hosting its 42nd Annual Apple Festival and Craft Fair, a fundraiser that helps support the over 50 pro- grams the TTCC puts on every year. Lastly, stay tuned for a new offering, the Strum and Drum Jam lab, which will offer guitar, ukulele, drum, and rock band lessons and sessions.
If you haven’t registered to run in the NH Marathon yet, there is still time to sign up. The Entry fee is $95 for the Mara- thon & $50 for the 10K Road Race (fee goes up by $10 on race day). Registration for the Half Marathon is closed as it is full. Check-in time will be 7:00-8:45 am on race day in the NMMS cafeteria. HALF MAR- ATHONERS MUST CHECK IN BY 7:45 AM ON SATUR- DAY—LAST BUS LEAVES AT 8 AM SHARP!!! Pre-regis- tered runners may also check in on Friday from 4:30 to 6:30 pm. Those interested in the pasta dinner on Friday may pre-reg- ister for $15 or pay at the door from 5-7:30 pm.
All races start on Saturday, 10/4/2025, at 9 am. You can register online to sign up for the race or to help lend a hand. A big event means the NEED FOR VOLUNTEERS is greater than ever with many tasks required to ensure the safety of participants, specta- tors and drivers. Jobs include helping with registration, park- ing cars, directing traffic, man- ning water stops along the route and assisting at the finish line. If you would like to be part of this amazing annual event, please register online or contact the Race Committee at race@ nhmarathon.com.
On October 11th from 9 am to 2 pm, bring your appetite and shopping spirit to the annual Apple Festival and Craft Fair
being held in our newly reno- vated building at 30 North Main Street in Bristol, NH. You can pick up a Homemade Apple Pie, Assorted Baked Goods, Home Baked Beans, Fresh Bread, and Apple Pie a-la-mode! Pies can also be pre-ordered (links com- ing soon!). The gym will have a variety of crafters & vendors for early Christmas Shopping with Table Space still available. We are also looking for a few peo- ple to help out on Friday, 10/10, any time between 9 am and 5 pm, to cut apples & prep pies. Want to help, but will not be available that day? We are also looking for donations of butter, oatmeal, molasses, salt pork, sugar, flour, and brown sugar. If you can help, please call us at 603-744-2713!
Our last October event is
the ushering in of a new music program, The Strum and Drum Jam Lab, being held in our newly created music room. The TTCC Music Program is the perfect place for youth (and adults!) to explore their creativ- ity and develop their musical skills. Whether you’re just start- ing out or already experienced, our program offers something for everyone. Offered on Tues- days & Thursdays from 4:00– 7:00 PM, the program is suitable for ages 10 and up. Check back for updates on cost, start date, and how to register. If you have any questions or would like to register or volunteer for any of October's events, visit us online at www.ttccrec.org, or email us info@ttccrec.org. You can also visit us in person or call the of- fice at (603) 744-2713.
