 Alexandria Trick or Treat Trail
Community
 By Donna RhoDes
Over the past few years, the Alexandria Park and Rec Committee has been adding more community events to their schedule, including Christmas and Easter, and this year, Hal- loween is on their list for peo- ple of all ages and any town to come and enjoy. It will be a chance for boys and girls to “test drive” their costumes in Alexan- dria Village on Sunday, October 26, and for adults to register to come and hand out treats if they live in quiet neighborhoods and miss out on the Halloween fun.
This summer, Nikki Wooster-Goodwin and the rest of the committee created and mowed a wide walking path through the large field behind Haynes Library and the Histor- ical Society in Alexandria Vil- lage. It begins just to the left of the town gazebo, and soon the committee hopes to see the path filled with families who will dis- cover what a “treat” it really can be along there in the fall.
The plan for the Halloween celebration this year is to turn it into the Alexandria Trick-or- Treat Trail. To help make that all happen, the committee is encouraging adults to sign up to pass candy out along the grassy Trick-or-Treat Trail where gob- lins, witches and superheroes will walk. In addition to the path, there will also be Trunk or Treat fun available in the park- ing lot at the Town Hall and Office Building; a great location for all, including those with dis- abilities who can both give out and get treats there, too.
Because it is the first year of this event, the committee asks that interested people, whether passing out candy or bringing children to the event, contact Nikki at 603-631-2213 by Oc- tober 10th. This will allow the committee to have an idea of how many to expect. Rather than just bringing their lawn chair to sit on, “treat distribu- tors” can even add their own touch of the holiday by perhaps
dressing up, decorating their chair, or setting up a Halloween scene at either their spot on the trail or in the trunk of their ve- hicle. Set up time that day will be from noon until 3 p.m..
Since this is the first year of the Alexandria Trick-or-Treat Trail, the Alexandria Park and Rec Committee is also asking families to call Nikki at the num- ber above to let the committee know their children wish to par- ticipate in the fun. The trick-or- treat times will be from 3 to 5 p.m. on Oct. 26th.
“We’d really like to see a lot of kiddos join us for a great time. People from any town are invited; we’d just like to know in advance if we can expect a good crowd that day,” she said.
In the event of light rain showers the event will go on as scheduled, but a heavy rain may cancel it. Updated weather and information will be shared on the Alexandria Park and Rec Facebook page in the days lead- ing up to the event.
