The Bristol Police Depart- ment is raffling off an AR-15 assault rifle for charity. I con- firmed this in person with the police chief.
Not a pistol, hunting rifle, lock box or a weapons safety course - This AR-15 is respon- sible for over half the mass murders in the United States.
Of course, the gun man- ufacturer gave them a “good deal” on this weapon - it is try- ing to legitimize private owner- ship for a weapon designed for the military and police. This is just plain stupid.
This choice does not make me feel confident in the judg- ment of our local force as to
our community safety.
I don’t want charity given as
a result of deaths of anymore of our citizens - especially our children.
Please let Chief Bean know you are against this raffle. Respectfully submitted,
Nancy Spears
