V. Community Learning Circles Inspire Group Storytelling
8. Allow stories to evolve – that is when stories become humorous and entertaining. Accept what is said and do not judge whether it is the absolute truth. What matters is the healing and sense of community that storytelling engenders.
9. Divert during quiet moments. If the community has pets, they should be included in the circle to create pleasant diversion and an air of informality.
10. Bring closure when the time feels right, but not before each individual is acknowledged or participates. Start to wrap it up when participants begin to tire.
11. End on a high note with another song. The exultation of singing completes the circle and builds self-esteem.
