Dr. Yvette Slaughter, General Committee Member
Yvette is a Senior Lecturer in Language and Literacy Education within the Melbourne Graduate School of Education and her teaching focuses on languages teaching methodology for pre-service teachers at the early childhood, primary and secondary levels, as well as in- service teachers at the secondary level. She is co-editor of Challenging the Monolingual Mindset (2014) and currently working on research focusing on the use of plurilingual
pedagogies and engagement with linguistic repertoires in early childhood, primary/secondary and adult educational contexts. Yvette has also had a long term interest in languages policy and planning, having worked extensively with the Victorian government on language-related projects over many years. Her current advocacy work focuses on the introduction of school level languages and literacy policies, high quality languages education and a strong presence for languages and literacy education across the curriculum.
