Megan McLaughlin, General Committee Member
Megan McLaughlin is an experienced teacher of Japanese who has taught students from prep to university. She worked as a Project Officer for the MLTAV in projects in ILTL and VELS in the 2000s and has been a team member on national projects producing online Asian Languages materials and in VCE assessment and course development since 1987. Megan was a member of the MLTAV Committee from 1986-1995 and 2000-2005 and Treasurer 1995, 2000–2005. While living in
Adelaide in 1996 – 1999, Megan was Secretary of the MLTASA and a member of the organising committee of the AMLTA/AATE/ALEA Conference in Adelaide in 1999. Megan was Treasurer of the AFMLTA from 2000–2006 and convened the AFMLTA Conference in Melbourne in 2005. She is currently Head of Japanese at Melbourne Grammar School, but has missed the engagement with other teachers, languages and ideas that comes with active involvement in the MLTAV. Her ongoing areas of special interest include differentiation, ILTL, thinking routines and classroom organisation, especially as these relate to motivating middle secondary students in languages learning. Megan’s interests beyond education include music (as a singer, organist and cellist), craft and travel.
Angela Natoli, General Committee Member
Angela Natoli has been actively involved in languages education for over 25 years. She is passionate about languages teaching and learning and has expertise in Curriculum planning, and Assessment and reporting, Languages methodology, and F-VCE teacher and student Curriculum resource development. Angela is currently the Assistant Principal: Curriculum and Professional
Development at the Victorian School of Languages (VSL). She began her career as an Indonesian and Italian Secondary Languages teacher. She also spent a number of years as a Senior Project Officer (languages) with the Department of Education: Southern Metropolitan Region assisting schools and teachers with their languages programs. Prior to her current role, she was a Leading Teaching: Area Manager for the VSL South East Area where she fostered a culture of change and innovation. Throughout her career and leadership roles, she has acquired extensive experience and knowledge to lead and support the strategic vision of schools and has made valuable contributions in mentoring languages teachers to use differentiated and varied teaching methodology/pedagogy, effective teaching strategies and other targeted professional development. In collaboration with VCAA, she has assisted in the process of the VCE accreditation of four languages. Angela is also a member of the Australian Network of Government Language Schools.
