 Marc Favre, General Committee Member
Marc is a French teacher with 13 years' experience teaching in public schools in Australia as well as in International Baccalaureate World Schools in Bangladesh, the U.A.E and in Turkey. He has been employed by the International Baccalaureate in several roles including those of curriculum author, lead examiner and moderator of assessment. Since his return to Australia in 2017, he has worked at Elwood College
where they have redesigned the French program with the result of more than doubling the number of students choosing to continue with their French studies once it becomes elective at the end of Year 8. Marc has presented at the 2018 and 2019 MLTAV Conferences and the 2019 AFMLTA Conference on topics such as 'Raising Expectations in Languages Learning' and 'The Lessons Learnt From Teaching Internationally’. Marc looks forward to any opportunity to use his experiences in a way that could contribute positively to the work of the MLTAV.
Dolly Gerges, General Committee Member
Dolly has been a languages practitioner for almost 30 years. She is fluent in Arabic, French and English and studied a Master of Education researching the reasons for the students’ decisions to continue or discontinue languages studies post the compulsory years. Dolly has taught languages in Lebanon and Australia across primary, secondary and tertiary levels. Her experience includes teaching French at Catholic College Bendigo, Languages Methodology at Latrobe University Bendigo and working as a Languages Project Officer in the
Loddon Mallee region. For the past 2 years Dolly has been working as the Languages Education Officer for Catholic Education, Sandhurst. She is the facilitator of the Preparing for the CLIL Classroom Program in Sandhurst and is currently undertaking her PhD researching the effects of CLIL programs in regional Victoria. She has recently completed her Coaching Accreditation through Growth Coaching International. Dolly is passionate about languages education and integrating languages across the different curriculum areas. She has been a member and supporter of languages’ associations including the Association of French Teachers’ in Victoria (AFTV) and the Modern Language Teachers’ Association of Victoria, Inc. (MLTAV). Dolly is a current committee member of MLTAV and a member of the Publications sub-committee.
