committees, contributing to the development of CSF1, CSF11 and to new Senior Secondary Curriculum. Later, whilst studying Japanese, Gabriella participated in the first Victorian Government teacher delegation to Japan.
Later, Gabriella accepted a position teaching languages and managing the Secondary schools’ Program at the La Trobe University Language Centre. In this role, Gabriella developed and marketed languages programs for teachers and senior secondary students. Gabriella then joined the office of the Pro Vice Chancellor, International, and led offshore marketing missions, consolidating Study Abroad agreements with a number of universities in Italy, Brazil and Colombia.
From 2005 to 2016, Gabriella worked at the Victorian Curriculum and Assessment Authority (VCAA) in the Languages Unit, Curriculum Division. At the VCAA, Gabriella was responsible for curriculum review, development and support (VELS, AUSVEL, Victorian Curriculum, VCE Languages), providing professional development for F-12 and contributing to Government Languages Policy. Gabriella also participated in development of Australian Curriculum and coordinated national projects, in particular the Collaborative Curriculum and Assessment Framework for Languages project (CCAFL).
In 2016, Gabriella joined the Australian Council for Educational Research (ACER) as Director, Languages (ALC tests). Gabriella also led work on the development of the VCAA Languages Assessments.
Gabriella’s current role is DET Project Coordinator at the Victorian School of Languages (VSL). In this role, Gabriella is responsible for the VSL contribution to the Early Years Kindergarten Project, Primary by Distance Project and the VCE Expansion Initiative for students in rural and remote areas.
Tifany Cnetelles, General Committee Member
Tifany is a French native speaker who has been teaching for 6 years. She is currently the Head of Languages at Mentone Girls Grammar.
Tifany is particularly passionate about languages teaching and learning as well as raising awareness of the needs for modern languages teaching in schools. She is passionate
about quality education, whether this involves curriculum design or execution of quality pedagogy in the languages classroom. Tifany is also currently learning her third language, Spanish. She believes that languages are an essential part of being a well-rounded global citizen as it exposes individuals to different cultures and enhances their literacy skills.
