role she has introduced a CLIL program at her school, launched and lead a network of Italian teachers and presented at conferences and school professional development sessions. Being a languages learner herself, she has grown a passion for bilingualism and additional languages education. She is currently pursuing doctoral studies at the University of Melbourne with a research on the potentials of plurilingual pedagogies in the languages classroom for EAL students. Her focus is on Italian language programs in primary school settings. She has presented at the AFMLTA Conference in 2019 and at MLTAV Conferences since 2017. She is also an MLTAV general committee member since December 2018. She is looking forward to continuing support languages teachers in her new role of MLTAV secretary.
Jaclyn Curnow, Treasurer
Jaclyn is a very passionate languages teacher and strong advocate for languages. In her teaching practice and leadership positions, she promotes quality teaching and learning. Jaclyn is a DET employee and uses the High Impact Teaching Strategies (HITS) to inform her pedagogy. As an experienced teacher of German, working with students from Middle School to Senior School, she understands the challenges and exciting opportunities that language
teachers have to promote the many benefits of languages. Jaclyn highly values collaboration and enjoys working in teams to promote pathways with languages and learning experiences. In her role as Languages Coordinator, she represents and supports colleagues with curriculum design and delivery. As a long serving committee member of the Association of German Teachers’ of Victoria (AGTV) and MLTAV, Jaclyn has contributed to professional learning opportunities and member services. She has represented the MLTAV at CPTAV meetings and the Education Expo. Jaclyn wishes to continue to give back to our exciting profession by serving as the MLTAV Treasurer in 2020.
Gabriella Bertolissi, Immediate Past-President
Gabriella brings over 40 years of experience in languages Education to her role as Immediate Past-President of the MLTAV.
Initially, Gabriella taught languages and geography in secondary schools across sectors and to adults. Her responsibilities in schools included leadership of languages faculties, representation on various school
committees and development of Memorandums of Understanding with newly-acquired sister schools. At this time, Gabriella also provided expertise to a number of Department of Education curriculum working
