Perhaps unsurprisingly, the first challenges of this project arose. They consisted in the following:
• Most students were completing little or no writing tasks outside of lesson time.
• There was no evident use of the resources provided.
• Very little feedback from students on its effectiveness was received.
Change of plan... Strategy 2 (Term 3)
It was clear a change of plan was needed for trialling a second strategy. This time, all the writing was completed in class once a week in a 20 minutes session at the beginning of one of the lessons. The error correction strategy itself was not much different as the mistakes continued to be highlighted but not systematically corrected if I thought the students would correct them on their own. An example of this strategy can be seen below.
About 3 minutes at the beginning of the subsequent lesson were given for students to correct the mistakes that had not been corrected for them.
