Eric’s growth and progress have been remarkable. But more striking has been Lucy’s development as well. Children’s Friend also supported her in attaining her own personal goals. She began to make and sell tamales from her kitchen to provide for her family and secure some income. She eventu- ally applied for and received her work permit, received her driver’s license, obtained her green card, and is now a full-time employee.
Children’s Friend has always been there for this family to ensure that they re- ceived all the resources and benefits of the Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Chil- dren (WIC). Once a teenager with no shoes and no education, Lucy is now a proud mother who provides the tools necessary to have the best life possible for her children.
