parents and relatives. Whether they are rich or poor,
Allah is well able to look after them. Do not follow your
own desires and deviate from the truth. If you twist or
turn away, Allah is aware of what you do. (Surat An-
Nisa: 135)
In another verse Allah states that hatred should not
cause people to be unfair:
O you who believe! Show integrity for the sake of Allah,
bearing witness with justice. Do not let hatred for a peo-
ple incite you to being unjust. Be just, for that is closer
to heedfulness. Fear [and respect] Allah , for Allah is
aware of what you do. (Surat Al-Ma'ida: 8)

The Torah and the Gospel also call for justice. In the
Gospel, those who disregard justice are condemned as fol-
lows:
Woe to you! You give a tenth of your spices – mint, dill, and
cumin. But you have neglected the more important matters of the
law – justice, mercy, and faithfulness. You should have practiced
the latter without neglecting the former. (Matthew, 23: 23)
