Facts about Rishikesh...
Hrishikesha is the 47th name of Lord Vishnu. It is said that

Raibhya Rishi performed penance on the banks of the river
Ganga and Lord Vishnu appeared before the Rishi as
Hrishikesha thus giving this holy town the name
Hrishikesh. In later years the name become popular as
Rishikesh.

Rishikesh is also known as the yoga capital of the
world and attracts many international tourists.

The Holy river Ganges flows through this city. Daily
Arati is performed to Mother Ganga. It is believed that
one dip in the Ganga free’s one from all sins.
Lord Rama did penance in this city for killing Ravana.

Lakhsman, the younger brother of Lord Rama crossed
the river Ganges using a jute rope bridge which was
replaced in 1889 by an iron-rope suspension and is known
as Lakshman Jhula.

Consuming non-veg foods and alcohol openly are stricyly
prohibited due to the significance of the place.
