are all ‘’in the hunt’, making breakthroughs on what we hope to be their road to Tokyo 2020. Very proud of all of them.
I also look forward to two other very special events. Our inaugural Paddlethon in support of Ronald McDonald House, an incredible charitable organization founded by Member George Cohon. Thanks to Doug Bullock and Megan Long for their tireless work bringing this to life. I am also fired up for the RCYC’s return to the Rolex New York Yacht Club Invitational Cup – good luck to Terry McLaughlin and his team this year! We’ll be there with the whole RCYC Member cheering squad.
Looking forward, a busy fall social schedule includes: our raucous (but well-behaved, I hope!) Last Mast Blast closing party on the Island Saturday, October 5th, Thanksgiving dinner at the City Clubhouse on Sunday, October 13th, our Taste of Italy ‘Festiciolla’ on Friday, October 18th and our scary-fun Family Night Hallowe’en on Friday, October 25th. As always, we’ll have more of our popular Wine Dinners. Taylor Fawcett and his team are planning even stronger sports & fitness offerings, and with a few twists. I’m excited to try some pickleball in the Sports Hall, for example.
Please read Neil Rooney’s notes on the improvements he and his team have undertaken. More to come! I have enjoyed getting to know Neil and am excited about the professionalism, energy and dedication he brings. And while I thank everyone for offering Neil their ‘secret sauce’ to running this Club, I do ask you continue giving Neil time and space to apply his experience to running this Club of ours.
Please feel free to reach out at Commodore@rcyc. ca or mrjamiekeating@gmail.com and I will do my best to answer you.
