 CHANGE HAPPENS

Change can be messy and uncomfortable, often putting you in a vulnerable position and presenting you with the possibility of failure. If you allow yourself the discomfort that change can bring, it can also present you with the possibility of great success. This is a concept I talk about a lot in my classes, and I feel it is a metaphor for life in general.
I have been in the fitness industry as a group instructor, personal trainer, manager, and developer for more than 30 years. What I love about my industry is that it is constantly evolving and changing for the better. Every year, some new scientific discovery regarding the body and how it works leads us to change our understanding and approach to our work.
I have made a commitment to myself to embrace the changes that happen in both my personal life
and my professional life with enthusiasm. My move to my new position as Fitness Programming Coordinator here at the RCYC is part of this change. I have been on Faculty at Humber College for a full decade now, and teaching is truly a fulfilling endeavor. I could happily coast through another decade, but it is time for growth. As I meet and get to know the wonderful Staff and Members here in our Fitness Centre, I am excited to have been given this opportunity to learn and grow here.
I step into some big shoes, and I promise to do my best to fill them. I look forward to a happy, busy fall here, and I look forward to meeting you all. Keep an eye open for some activities we are planning for the next few months.
