Marine Insurance Seminar, Tuesday April 9th
The last of four CSS winter seminars explored many aspects of marine insurance, including issues of liability. A big thank you to Patrick Gillen, Alan Adelkind, and Rui Fernandes who shared a wide range of insights about both marine insurance and the claims processes. Many great questions from the audience highlighted the importance of being familiar with what your policy covers and what it doesn’t. A particularly timely question revolved around new language within pleasure craft insurance policies that may affect your coverage when you entertain clients or guests from your workplace. Your broker can bring you up to speed and share their respective solutions to these new conditions. Thank you to Marnie Keith-Murray for organizing the 2019 seminars and to Geoff Cornish, Seminar Organizer and his able assistant, his son Keiran.
Watch for 2019 CSS Cruises
Flooding washed out our first planned cruise to Bluffer Yacht Club, but our July long weekend cruise to the Royal Hamilton Yacht Club should find the Lake back to normal. Then the special July 6 and 7 cruise/race to Youngstown, the Terry O’Connell Destination Rally, organized by Mark Boudreau with a great program and growing participation each year. Then the cruise to the Lakeshore Yacht Club, the Rendezvous at Mulcaster, the Oakville Yacht Squadron and finally 50 Point for the Labour Day weekend. We are pleased to welcome Brian Hill as CSS Cruise organizer and thank Bob for his many efforts at making our cruising program such a great success.
CSS Spring Dinner, Saturday, May 11th Groovy 60’s
After a day of working on our boats, we headed to the Island Ballroom, back for the Spring Dinner following two years of relocations to the City Sports Hall due to Island flooding and renovations. Enthusiastic CSS members dressed up like hippies (as some of us actually were) celebrated the Groovy 60s, and connected with friends, met new ones and made plans for summer cruises! Family oriented, as noted by Commodore Mitchele, a CSS Member, we also included kids and teens with a childcare program and a separate teens table. Great decorations, even a mini van for picture taking, as well as lots of beads and flowers and big glasses. And, of course great dancing and a costume competition parade. Thanks for a memorable Spring Dinner to Peggy McFarland and her team of Barbara Judges, Anastasia Alanais-Hayward, Sandra Idenouye and Marnie Keith-Murray.
