first CSS cruise of our 50th season. Wonderfully creative appetizers appeared (along with various bottles) and approximately 32 sailors from 13 boats enjoyed sunshine and camaraderie on the people-friendly terrace of LSYC. An hour or so later, everyone then enjoyed delicious hamburgers (with all the condiments), two different salads and amazingly good corn-on-the-cob (providence unknown) followed by a variety of sweets. Dianne led a short hike on Sunday morning and then fair winds accompanied everyone back to RCYC.
Elizabeth Mior for organizing this successful event.
Famous Frog Race
The famous Frog Race took place this year after last year’s cancellation due to flooding. The water pistol brigade was in place to ensure lots of action at the bridge. Friedrich Wassenberg was able to lead the racers to win. Thanks to Peggy McFarland and Paul Masson for organizing this event.
CSS BBQ
Over 100 members and guests enjoyed a sunny evening in the Rose Garden with a BBQ that included a grand 50th Anniversary cake. The special 50th Anniversary flags arrived just in time to be distributed to boat owners present. Thanks to Cheryl Walter and Mary, Margaret and Joan Brennan and staff for making it all happen.
CSS Members who were not able to attend the BBQ please pick up the CSS 50th Anniversary flag at the Chandlery.
   CSS DAY, June 2
Swap/sale/giveaway
Table loads of boating goods were well examined in the morning, with some treasures discovered, such as much admired brown dishes, shower curtains that will become table cloths and plastic tubing of all sizes claimed by the Chandlery. The CSS will also be looking at other kinds of opportunities for recycling of members’ useful but unwanted stuff. Watch for further information.
