Lawn Bowling: Please Read this Important Notice Bill Brennan
I was on a team competing against Alex Marshal, MBE. Alex has won six indoor world championships and six outdoor world championships. This January, he came second in the 2020 World Indoor Championships. Alex is a true gentleman, so I will not mention our final score. The point is if I can play with Alex surely you can play with me.
RCYC Bowling offers several opportunities each week to come out for lawn bowling and fellowship. As a member of the section, you are welcome to practice anytime. Four times a week we have organized bowling. In Britain and Portugal these are called roll ups. You simply show up before the scheduled start time and you will be placed on a team by draw.

If you are a retired sailor or your partner is NOT a retired sailor, or are you sitting in your boat wishing you had something to do, or maybe you’re a racquets player looking for a cross training opportunity, then I’m talking to you. If you want to get to the Island and use the Club more than you currently do, then I’m talking to you, too. I want you to know that Lawn Bowling is “Where Friends become Family”.
Lawn Bowling unaffected by high or low water
You may have noticed a theme in my last two Kwasind articles. I have told you that Lawn Bowling is for you. It is a sport where you can feel you belong the first day you walk on the green. How unusual is that!? There are not very many sports where you can play with a world champion and not look silly. Well, I’m here to tell you that you can with Lawn Bowling. I am far from a proficient bowler. I am learning and getting better every day, but I still have a lot of work to do with my game. I have been bowling for less than two years. Back in February,
We do not know when we will next be bowling but rest assured that when that day comes, and it will come, you will be most welcome.
The RCYC Lawn Bowling section is looking for new members. Joining the section is easy, just call Agnes Kuczalska, Sports Coordinator ext. 255, or email her at agnes.kuczalska@rcyc.ca.
You bowl at your own pace as much or as little as you wish to. If you wish to try bowling come out at the scheduled time wearing comfortable clothing and flat bottom shoes. We provide the bowling balls.
