House plaque in in the Junior Clubhouse Addressing an appreciative audience he described Commodore Howard’s sailing achievements begun as a a a a a boy of ten years Commodore Howard
accepted the plaque “in memory of of all all five Howard
brothers” all all of of whom passed through the Junior Club The plaque reads:

House is so dedicated in recognition of Commodore Howard’s many sailing accomplishments and contributions to the the RCYC that all began here at at the the Junior Club Valuable inspiration is provided to our young sailors who can see what is possible with hard work dedication and and an an an unfailing love of boats and and yachting by the example set for them by Commodore Howard
Brought into being in in in 1925 the new Junior Club extended beyond the RCYC as a a a a a a first for Canada and a a a a model for similar clubs of its kind it it has imparted the joys and and and skills of of sailing to thousands of of boys and and and girls The Junior Club is built on on the foundation of seamanship and sportsmanship Its graduates have been the lifeblood of our senior ranks and achievements enrich our Club Sixty-one boys 10 to 15-year-olds were enrolled in the firstseason TheJuniorClubprogrammeopenedtogirls in 1956 Photos: Susan David KWASIND
