Unfortunately the Club does not have a budget for these new cases so – fair warning – your fleet or section will be asked for a generous contribution. The embedded fixtures include the sports trophy cases on the Canada Room mezzanine, the trophy case in the Carlton Lounge and the large sailing trophy case in the Model Room.
Our concern for our trophies is not just a fear of sticky paws and light fingers in the night, but a desire to hold back the creeping effects of time – not many of us want to learn the art of mending broken silverware, but it turns out that quite a few want their own silver to shine out like our finest pieces, so our Sharing Silver Secrets seminar was a serious hit (and one we probably will repeat). The hands-on participants got a demo, advice from our favourite silversmith, a chance to get their hands dirty, a priceless clutch of secrets and a loot bag.
Other Heritage News
High water and the Cornerstone renovations forced us to put aside our Island tours for the past two years; we hope to re-establish the tradition this season but we shall have to wait and see what the water levels look like – watch the website for news of the re-inauguration of this popular weekend draw. Also, we are planning City Clubhouse tours so look to Kwasind and Hiawatha for news of a new opportunity to gain insight into our Club.
