Page 2 - 2020 Year End Giving
P. 2
Dear Mariners,
“What a crazy year!” We say that phrase frequently in our home. It is not a year I would have prayed for or hoped for, yet it is a year we have seen the Lord do so much. And there is no group of people I would rather be with in a year like this than the people of Mariners Church. Do you remember our church verse from 2019?
For I am about to do something new...See, I have already begun! Do you not see it? Indeed, I will make a way in the wilderness, rivers in the desert. I S A I A H 4 3 : 1 9
“I will make a way in the wilderness.” That phrase certainly sums up the work God has done in and through Mariners in 2020. When COVID emerged, the profound truth of our 2019 Annual Church verse became more vivid and poignant for us all, and it wasn’t long before we decided it was meant to sustain us through another year. While the ups and downs of 2020 were unforeseen by any of us, God knew, and He made a
beautiful way in the wilderness, allowing Mariners to reach more people than ever before with the good news of Jesus’ love and mercy.
When the pandemic hit, we pivoted quickly to serve you digitally. Our weekend worship services became an online refuge serving our Mariners family each week and welcoming viewers from 48 states and 10 countries. Mariners Kids launched new and creative programming with the Big Picture Show and online small groups, ensuring kids and families could continue
to worship and grow together. Youth Night Live was an online hit that brought so much energy and fun to junior high and high schoolers, and paved the way for us to bridge the gap
between online and in-person offerings. Groups transitioned to meeting via Zoom, keeping critical connections intact in a time when social distancing left many feeling lonely and
isolated. We launched Deep Dive to provide biblical and theological teaching for people
in our church. The Lord used the pandemic to lead us to new ways to help you grow
spiritually, and we will be stronger as a church on the other side of this.
