Page 3 - 2020 Year End Giving
P. 3
Before resuming our larger gatherings, we launched new ways to worship together each weekend,
and these gatherings have continued even after gatherings resumed at Mariners Irvine and Mariners Huntington Beach! Mariners Hosted at Home allows groups to watch the service together and Mariners
in the Neighborhood offers smaller gatherings throughout Orange County. By God’s grace, these gatherings, along with Mariners Online, have allowed us to expand our capacity to serve people each week with the message of Jesus.
Since March, our community partnerships and outreach efforts have exponentially increased.
We’ve distributed more than 900 tons of food
to those facing food insecurities through the
Mariners Food Pantries. To help relieve the burden
on healthcare workers, we delivered thousands of meals, personal protective equipment and masks, provided childcare, and opened our campus for blood drives. As the uncertainties surrounding the school year approached, we launched Mariners in
the Gap, serving families with after-school childcare, academic enrichment, and distance-learning support at our Irvine campus and Lighthouse Community Centers. The Irvine Community Center became a Care & Reception site during the Silverado Canyon fires, providing respite and refuge for some of the 60,000 evacuated from Irvine. In the midst of all we were
focused on locally, our commitment to our global family proved strong as we sent over $600,000 to our partners in Kenya, Uganda, Sri Lanka, China, the Congo, and Haiti for global COVID response, disaster relief, and the continuation of vital projects supporting food distribution, education, and the advancement of God’s Kingdom.
Your incredible generosity is what makes the flexibility and innovation required in this season possible. Thank you so much! Your giving has made a massive impact. Because of your giving, we will continue to serve Mariners, our community, and our global family with the heart of Jesus.
December is a critical month for Mariners. As you may know, 25% of our annual budget is received during this month, setting the pace for 2021. As you determine where to make your year-end donations, I ask that you prayerfully consider giving to Mariners.
I know that you will experience the joy of generosity and be reminded of God’s generosity to you in Jesus.
Thank you for responding to the work God is doing in and through your church. It is an honor to serve as your pastor!
In Christ,
Eric Geiger
Senior Pastor
