The Wall Knot
The wall knot is the basic building block for a series of more elaborate
stopper knots and splices. It is the simplest of multistrand knots—those
formed by unlaying a line and tying its strands. To make it, each strand in
turn is passed up through a bight formed by the adjacent strand, as
shown in the diagram at right.
