WELCOME TO THE GREAT CITY OF STURGIS
catch the ear of a rally goer walking the street.
August 3-12, 2018 is the start of the 78th Annual Sturgis® Motorcycle RallyTM. If you are planning on coming to South Dakota to enjoy this world-renowned event, it gives me a great pleasure to welcome all of you to the great city of Sturgis.
Events are still the reason
why Sturgis® is referred as
the “Daddy of E’m All”.
Events such as the vintage
races, Hooligan races,
Beard, Moustache and
Tattoo contests. But what really takes top honors are the rides. The 16th Annual Mayor’s ride will be hitting the road Monday, August 6th and the ride with the locals which were such a great success last year will be back with added dates this year.
The significance of the Sturgis® Motorcycle RallyTM is well documented in the history of motorcycles and motorcycle racing. This grand event started in 1938 centered around a simple race, and grew from there to be one of the largest motorcycle events in the world. Sturgis is a modest community of 6800 people that lies on the edge of the Black Hills. Every year the citizens roll out the red carpet to welcome between 400,000 and 750,000 bikers for 10 days of races, entertainment, strolling Famous Main Street, visiting a variety of ven- dors and riding in the beautiful Black Hills and sur- rounding areas.
Two of things that everyone does when they get to Sturgis are rides through the Black Hills of South Dakota which are unequaled in their natural beauty and a walk down Legendary Main Street. You can’t miss Main Street! At any given time among the 20-30,000 people on the street you might spot one of your favorite TV or Sports personalities. When it’s the place to be in the first week of August you know everyone is going to be here.
The successes of the early years of the RallyTM has allowed it to grow into a 10-day mega event. Today’s event has more than 1000 motorcycle industry vendors selling the best of everything motorcycle. You can pur- chase everything from motorcycles, leathers, custom mufflers or mirrors. Whether you’re here for a new windshield or just an oil change Sturgis has it all. On top of being able to see the latest and greatest of every- thing the festival atmosphere has taken a turn for the better. In and around Sturgis® there are more than 100 bands that will be playing in the 10-days. Entertainment such as Eric Church & Kid Rock to local bands trying to

Some of the best motorcycle
events during Sturgis are not at a
bar, concert, or on Main Street.
They are in fact, at the Jackpine Gypsies Motorcycle Club’s property located on Short Track Road, which runs along I-90 off of Lazell Street.
Here, you will find GREAT flat-track racing, tough Hill Climbs, and unreal MotoCross! This is a big part of what Sturgis is about. Real motorcycle events. The Gypsies also have their tent located here where you can buy their offi- cial Jackpine patches, pins, and other items that are all very cool.
Treat yourself and check out their events. More informa- tion is available at jackpinegypsies.com #
