ODN DAYTONA BIKE WEEK By Schultz
aytona is the place to be in early March. Lots to do, lots of places to check out. Here is this year’s list.
This is new. All or most of the vendors who have been located on Beach Street for years will be located on US Route 1 in Ormond Beach in front of Boot Hill. Be sure to check them out.
Main Street of course will be going full steam ahead with wall to wall vendors and great stops for a cold one. The Daytona Flea Market is open all week and that’s the home of the Jam-On Swap Meet.
Destination Daytona at I-95 and US Rt. 1has all kinds of places and vendors to visit.
Let’s eat – My list doesn’t seem to change much, way too many places to try. But, again my favorites are:
• Duffs Buffet at Bellair Plaza 2667 N. Atlantic Ave. Go there hungry and leave full. Many great menu items and wonderful staff.
• Ultimate Omelet, locals love it, great staff, great food, found on Ridgewood Ave. US Rt. 1, Northbound side 1.3 miles south of US Rt. 92 International BLVD.
Great food and great staff await you at Duff’s!
• Steve’s Famous Diner at the southbound side of Atlantic Ave.- two miles north of Main Street- delicious meals, bakery on site, great staff.
• Krispy Kreme at the corner of US Rt. 92 and Nova is our choice for coffee and doughnuts, many meet there to pack bags.
Travel to Daytona
A great way to get to Daytona and back this time of year if you live in the Northeast is the Amtrak Auto Train. Leave from Lorton, VA just south of DC and arrive in Sanford, FL, 30 miles west of Daytona. It takes almost 1000 miles off the trip. Call 800-USA-Rail for info, a sure bet.
Remember ride safe and watch for animals-day and night. Don’t drink and get on your motorcycle- Just don’t do it!! Don’t speed-especially never speed on bridges- that’s a sucker’s bet.
Ride safe and live to enjoy! H DAYTONA
