FINDING
HOPE -NAVYA SUSAN MATHEW
The salvation we gained is a free gift of God. It is the sacrifice of His ‘only begotten’ son. He sacri-
ficed his life for our sins. All of us were bankrupt spiritually then, and now we are living happily only
because He redeemed us. Jesus was crucified barbarously for our sins and He has given our lives
back as a free gift, that which we could not purchase even if we owned the wealth of the whole
world. Elihu said to Job that “will He esteem your riches: no, not gold or all of the forces of
strength.” God owes us nothing, nor will He ever be a debtor to man.
It is not our work for God that earns us a place in heaven but our repentance from sin. God’s
forgiveness is certainly a gift that we have nothing to gasconade in ourselves. We are his workman-
ship and God is working in our lives every moment. Every single moment that we encounter in our life,
either worst or best, is preparing us for the good work that He has before ordained. As we are
God’s workmanship, He has all planned what should happen in each individual’s life. From the begin-
ning itself He knew what should happen next and He want all the populace to accomplish that for the
kingdom of Christ.
We can’t travel through straight roads ceaselessly, there will be twists and turns. The same happens
with life too. We are often bewildered by the events that are happening in our lives. Sometimes we
feel that God has forsaken us, like the psalmist cry, “why have you forsaken me? Why are you so far
from helping me, and hearing my cry?” Life is like a puzzle, you feel disturbed until you find out the
next block and it continues till we find the last block. This is the same in the case of life. We are
unaware of what comes next and what is God’s plan for us. We might have made complaints to God
when we experience turbulent incidents in life. It is because we are not able to see the next phase
that God has prepared for us.
Life is not always a bed of roses; sometimes it becomes rock – bottom, but neither brings it to a
close nor loses your hope in God. If now you are moving through a lamentable circumstance, at the
end of that scenario, you will see rainbows, you can discover great blessings from God. All these mel-
ancholic experiences are necessary preparations. Through all of these experiences God is teaching
us of his faithfulness to provide for our every need just as He promised. The entire catastrophe we
are going through is a part of necessary preparation, for the work that God has in mind for us to
accomplish His glory. Through all these colorless eventualities He is teaching us quintessential les-
sons of who He is and how He wanted his work done.
God will never leave us in the middle of the sea. He will hold our hand and lead us to the oasis.
Think of the words of Paul to those of Galatia: “be not weary in well doing, for in due season, you
will reap, if you faint not.”
