Corona Times - The Fight of Faith against
the Flight of Fear
DEEPA BABY JOHN
Deuteronomy 31:8
“The Lord himself goes before you and will be with you; he will never leave you or forsake you. Do not be
afraid; do not be discouraged.”
The Bible is God’s word, full of truth for every situation we face in life. As the entire world endures quaran-
tines, and panic during the coronavirus pandemic, God offers peace. The eternal peace in His word can displace
anxiety and fear with hoped healing.
God’s word teaches us that when we receive Christ as our Lord and Saviour, He gives us a new nature. He gives
us his nature. He also gives us a spirit of discipline and self-control which is important in allowing us to choose
the way of our new nature. He gives us a sound mind which means we can think about things properly without
being controlled by emotion.
God wants us to live in peace. He unleashes his power and his blessings in our lives but the final choice is left
to us. If something does not bring us peace cast it out. We have to understand the importance of using wisdom
to make the right choices now. We have a unique call upon our life, a call that makes us an important part of
the body of Christ.
As each day passes, we have certain purposes we wish to accomplish, and at the end of the day, we find it
proper to rest. Faith allows us to rest spiritually, mentally and emotionally. Even our will gets a rest when we
have trust in God. We don’t worry or reason, we are not upset or downcast, and we are not trying to make
something happen that is not God’s will - we are at rest!
2 Timothy 1: 7
“For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and love and a sound mind.”
Nothing is outside of God’s control, so in reality, there is nothing to worry about. When we begin to look at the
worry realistically, we see how total useless it is. our mind revolves endlessly and around a problem, searching
for answers that inky God has. We may ponder a thing and ask God for wisdom but we do not have God’s per-
mission to worry. When we worry we torment ourselves we can pray and ask God to help us not to worry but
we must choose to put our thought on something other than our problems. A refusal to worry is proof that we
trust God and it releases him to go to work on our behalf. A confident person does not worry because they see
the future differently. Confident people do not concentrate on their weaknesses; they develop and maximize
their strength.
Growing in the ability to trust God and to walk in faith is a lifetime journey; it does not happen quickly. As we
grow spiritually we have to remind ourselves over and over again to cast our cares on God, be anxious for noth-
ing, trust him in every situation. As we equip ourselves to do these things, we find ourselves resting in the lord
more and more and that is where we find peace, clarity, wisdom, and the strength to face each day.
No day needs to be ordinary if we realise the gift God is giving us when He gives us another day to live and en-
joy. An extraordinary attitude can quickly turn an ordinary day into an amazing adventure.
John 14:27
“Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts
be troubled and do not be afraid.”
