 BOLOGNA, ITALY -MY DREAM HOLIDAY
BY : NUR FATHIYAH SOLEHAH BINTI MOHD NAZRI, 5 BETA

Holidays, a time for everyone gets hyped up over, parents planning activities for the family to
spend quality time with and school children and also jumping for joy. Waking up late, celebrating, and
going for tuition and best of all, vacations! Absolutely, we want the best destinations for our vacations
so that our money will spent well for the vacations. There are many best destinations for the vacations
especially when you go with your family.

One of them is Bologna, Italy. Forgotten for Florence. Rejected for Rome. Passed over for Pisa.
Bologna is forever overlooked in favour of flashier Italian brethren. This town doesn’t just have history,

it also has medieval towers, porticoed walkways and cobbled piazzas. Progressive and rebellious,
Bologna’s nickname, La Rossa, is a play on both the ubiquitous red brick and a penchant for socialism.
Its other claim to fame is foods. Italy is famous with spaghetti bolognese. They prefer call the
spaghetti bolognese as tagliatelle al ragu here. Much-hyped new opening, 'foodie theme park' Fico
Eataly World, offers a 20-acre complex of gastro workshops, rides and restaurants.

There are many interesting place which we can visit in Italy with our family. One of them is we
can live like a rapunzel in an old prison tower, the Torre Prendiparte. The Torre Prendiparte is surely
Europe's most vertiginous B&B. It is a 13-storey medieval tower. The rooms are stacked one on top of
each other like Jenga blocks. There is one suite spread over the first three floors, and the upper 10

storeys are empty. Trudge up past graffiti which is scratched on the walls when this was a prison for
a wonderful view of the city. And we can watch ourselves on the way down.

Other than that, we can also learn how to make the world’s best ice cream here. In Bologna,
gelato is not just ice-cream. It is something undefinable Italian, like a Stradivari violin or the perfect
pout of Gina Lollobrigida. This is the sort of thing they tell us when we sign up for a course at Bologna

Gelato University, where the secrets of the frozen art are imparted to a lucky few. We can also seize
the cocktail hour here. Six o'clock in the evening is the best time of day in Bologna. Then, or
thereabouts, all the bars lay out a spread of stuzzichini, delicious tapassy nibbles to pick at while we
enjoy a sundowner. It's a competitive thing, an inter-bar competition, and some of the best snacks are
to be had at Zanarini or at Bar Mambo.
We can also lunch at the perfect Italian restaurant, All'Osteria Bottega. We would never find
All'Osteria Bottega unless someone told us about it. It is on a most unpromising street at the very
edge of the old town. But this is the best osteria we'll ever eat in which is cosy, friendly, and delicious.
We must start with mortadella, a Bolognese specialty served with ripe pear and sparkling Italian wine.

The rest is up to us, but the fried potatoes are very delicious! When we’re in Bologna, we must be
admired by the playing-card Madonna in Basilica di Santo Stefano, also known as the Sette Chiese or
Seven Churches. While we are there be sure to pause at the painted paper-mâché Pietà - Mary grieving
over the body of Christ. The statue is made of playing cards that were confiscated and pulped after
gaming was outlawed in the city in 1725.

As a conclusion, there are many interesting places to visit in Bologna, Italy. We can do many fun
activities with our own family members together. There are also many foods that we can try here. If
you wonder where do you want to go for the vacation, then Bologna is the right place for you to go
 especially with your family.
