and he disappears into the trees.

I crawl into the bushes,
with my face against the ground.

Everything is black.
I hear buzzing

and crackling
and shouting

coming closer.

A loud bang echoes through the air.
I see the faint light of fires coming closer.

I slowly get to my knees.

There is fire everywhere.

I look towards the trees,
where Kek vanished,

but I cannot see them
through the dark gray smoke.

I run into the smoke,
