SLIDING FIGURES OF EIGHT 55

             22 SLIDING FIGURES

                    OF EIGHT

This simple bend provides the same services as a Carrick Bend in that it
securely joins two lines of unequal thickness and remains easy to undo.

The working ends of each rope are laid side by side in opposite directions.
Each is then used to form a Figure of Eight knot about the standing part of
its sister rope, the latter being enclosed by one turn of the Figures of Eight
(it doesn’t matter which). These knots are worked tight and slid together. To
undo the knot the working ends are simply pulled apart to slide the knots
apart allowing them to be undone.
