Charging
The Electric vehicles draw their drive energy, partly or entirely
(depending on the vehicle concept), from the installed HV battery
(depending on the vehicle design). To charge the battery, the
vehicle must be connected to an external voltage source. There
are many charging options available to the vehicle’s owner,
although all are not currently usable. This is due to various
development issues and industrial trends relevant to the charging
process. This results in a wide variety of sockets and charging
systems that must be harmonized in the customer’s interest and his
desire for full mobility.
Charging is as simple and as self-explanatory as connecting a
smartphone to a power source at the end of the day. The fact is

that having to drive to the “power charging station” or evenmake a
detour will be the exception rather than the rule in the future.
Still, to ensure that charging is fast, simple and easy, all the
relevant parameters must work together: the vehicle, themobility
services, and the infrastructure.
